Exploration & description
The data exploration that follows disregards
the cases for which the response variable weaning weight was not recorded. This
can be achieved by first using the GenStat Spread →
Restrict/Filter command to exclude missing values for weaning weight. Two-way
frequency tables can then be produced by Stats → Summary Statistics →
Frequency Tables… and then completing
the dialog box that appears to give counts of the numbers of lambs recorded with
weaning weights each year and for each lamb genotype.
In contrast, mating to the Red Maasai ewes did not start
until 1992, and more lambs were born to Red Maasai than Dorper ewes during the
latter years of the study.
