Statistical modelling
We can fit the model by using the dialog box shown below obtained by
Stats → Regression Analysis → Generalized Linear Models... Then by clicking the Options button,
then ticking Accumulated, an analysis of
variance is shown which gives the sums of squares accounted for by each parameter in the model.
In addition, the output contains parameter estimates adjusted for other
effects in the model, and an accumulated analysis of variance indicating the
sums of squares accounted for as each term is added. Thus, each sum of squares
in the analysis of variance is adjusted for preceding terms. This does not
apply, however, to parameter estimates. For each factor, parameter estimates are
adjusted for all other factors regardless of the order in which they are
included in the model.
