The data files listed below arise from experiments designed by the late Harvey Dicks of the University of Kwazu-Natal during his eminent career as an applied biometrician in crop research. The files provide a wide range of experimental designs. Each data set is a GenStat file so that GenStat must be first downloaded onto the user's computer before the files can be used (see Software). After opening a file the description of its contents can then be obtained via the GenStat command Spread → Sheet → Title . With this knowledge the user can then apply GenStat to see if he/she can produce an appropriate analysis of variance to suit the design.
Course notes written by Harvey Dicks on experimental design are also included in this Teaching Resource (Dicks H.M. 2006b) and the user may wish to refer to them when analysing these data. Other course notes written as an introduction to statistical methods may also be of interest (Dicks, H.M. 2006a).
