Study questions

1. Go through the 'Log' worksheet in CS7Data and see whether you agree with the recommended changes to the data file. Indicate any occasion where you think that an alternative modification to the data may have been considered.

2. The case study gives a summary table of means, minima and maxima of monthly rainfall together with the numbers of years in which monthly rainfall was at least 10mm. Use Instat to produce other summaries that might be useful in highlighting differences among months and years.

3. Use Instat to reproduce the graphs of annual and seasonal rainfall.

4. Use Instat to reproduce the graphs showing patterns in the numbers of rainy days and the average rainfalls per rainy day.

5. It is widely accepted that climate change not only affects changes in mean temperature or rainfall but also in their variability from year to year. Describe how you would assess whether there has been any change over time in the variability among years in the numbers of rainy days or average rainfall per rainy day.
