Case study 7: Exploring daily rainfall data to investigate evidence of climate change in southern Zambia and its implication for farmers in the area

Source material

Daily rainfall data for Moorings were supplied by the Zambia Meteorological Service. The original data had been completed and verified in Microsoft Access at the source station. These were transferred into Excel and put into CS7Data and cover the period from 1st July 1921 to 30th June 2003. Daily rainfalls from 1st July to 30th June 2003 are stored in parallel columns from 1921/22 to 2002/03 in separate worksheets: 1921+ and 1969+. Monthly summary rainfall totals had also been calculated at Moorings from the daily rainfall values and these were provided by the station. These are stored in the 'Monthly' worksheet in CS7Data. The contents of the different worksheets are described in CS7Doc.
